Compensation & Benefits​

  • $82,013 yearly salary

  • This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 2, AFL-CIO.

About the Position

​

PFLAG National is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their families, and allies. PFLAG National has 250,000+ members and supporters and nearly 400 chapters in the United States. This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced, and serviced by the PFLAG National staff, Board of Directors, and Regional Directors Council. 

 

The Corporate Philanthropy Manager works with the Development Department and other staff to meet PFLAG National’s fundraising goals. This position is an integral part of the team responsible for securing corporate support through national partnerships, corporate foundation grants, event sponsorships, and other co-branding opportunities. 

 

PFLAG National currently has over 50 global and national corporate partners and a pipeline of potential partners through its Straight for Equality™ in the Workplace learning program. PFLAG National also partnered with over 25 companies during Pride Month this year and will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2023. 

 

We are looking for someone with great experience, tenacity, and a vision for how to grow this already successful corporate philanthropy program. As of now, PFLAG National raises over $1.2 million per year from our corporate partners — and we see the potential to grow this support source substantially over the coming years. We want you to help us do that!

Duties Include

​

  • Manage the development of strategies for soliciting corporate gifts with the Director of Development and other relevant staff

  • Develop and deliver well-written, impact-driven, story-focused, compelling grant proposals and reports for corporations in collaboration with relevant staff 

  • Prepare corporate gift acknowledgments and complete administrative duties associated with the research, preparation, and delivery of proposals and reports in a timely manner

  • Proactively research and solicit corporate prospects for new funding opportunities

  • Manage most day-to-day communication with corporate contacts

  • Ensure the fulfillment of corporate sponsorship benefits and maintain an accountability tracking mechanism of deliverables

  • Maintain and update corporate contact records and track solicitation/prospecting status in donor database

  • Build, expand, and maintain an internal calendar of corporate grant proposal and report deadlines 

  • Solicit sponsorships and ensure the success of events such as the annual Moving Equality Forward fundraiser in DC (or virtual), PFLAG Gives Thanks corporate appreciation event in NYC (or virtual), the biennial National Convention, and the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2023

  • Perform other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the Development Director

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit fundraising or philanthropy

  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, particularly in corporate relations and/or major gifts

  • Demonstrated success in soliciting five- to seven-figure corporate and/or major gifts 

  • Excellent writing skills and interpersonal communication 

  • Well organized and detail-oriented with a collegial working style

  • Comfortable working with remote employees

  • Understanding of corporate diversity and inclusion practices 

  • Knowledge and experience with grassroots membership organizations is a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and work independently on a variety of tasks simultaneously

  • Knowledge of donor/CRM databases

  • Travel and evening/weekend work is exceedingly rare, but will occur from time to time.
