About the Position

Founded in 2010, we are a woman-owned, progressive, full-service strategy and communications firm with a track record of winning tough fights.  We serve advocacy and legal organizations, political groups, and CEOs who are making a difference - helping them move from brainstorming to goal setting to winning.

You’ll find us working for social justice in the biggest battles in Washington - and across the country.  These days, that means fighting against police brutality and on the climate crisis, ensuring equity in our national policies, supporting public transit, labor unions and working people.  Winning redistricting battles. Protecting our elections. And much more.

We are looking for new Associate team members who are passionate, creative, and fun!

Duties Include

Communications Associate

• Being a great story teller. You know how to string words together that inspire and activate, and you know when pictures > words.

• Willingness to go to the mat for your cause and your client

• Get fired up about the state of affairs today and want to take an active role in fixing it

• Carry a strong commitment to, and analysis of, gender and racial justice in all aspects of your work

• Be good at the internet.  You know how to craft social media content that gets noticed and shared

Communications Senior Associate

• Being a great story teller. You know how to string words together that inspire and activate, and you know when pictures > words.

• Willingness to go to the mat for your cause and your client

• Get fired up about the state of affairs today and want to take an active role in fixing it

• Carry a strong commitment to, and analysis of, gender and racial justice in all aspects of your work

• Be good at the internet.  You know how to craft social media content that gets noticed and shared

• Run, or help run, communications for a client, candidate, or cause

• Craft compelling narratives, including op-eds, letters to the editor, and talking points

• Be super responsive to your clients and teammates and meet multiple, and sometimes competing deadlines

Skills and Qualifications

Communications Associate

• 1-2 years of experience 

• Be a voracious consumer of politics, culture, and, you know, what the kids do these days

• Super organized and independent - can handle multiple projects simultaneously

• Bonus points: design or video production experience or Spanish language skills

Communications Senior Associate

• 3-5 years of experience 

• Be a voracious consumer of politics, culture, and, you know, what the kids do these days

• Super organized and independent - can handle multiple projects simultaneously

• Some experience running digital programs for a client, candidate or cause, including creating persuasive content, graphics and video, and a working understanding of paid digital advertising

• Have existing press relationships and a demonstrated track record of placing stories in the media and driving the narrative

• A veteran of campaigns, the Hill, or an agency is a big plus!
